The content(edness) calendar-Day 8
Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness. – Desmond Tutu
Today I woke up with a notification from BBC news, about the first dose of the vaccine being administered to Margaret Keenan, a (almost) 91 years young lady from Enniskillen.
It is a small step, but it made me smile. There were weeks where it seemed that this nightmare would never end, that small businesses were all going to shut down, and that travelling was just a faded memory from a previous life.
Today we can see that despite everything, despite all the darkness, there is light. Margaret, with her beautiful Christmas jumper is just a reminder for all of us.

Do you know why they picked her? I see all of those medical workers and wonder why they didn’t have higher priority? I have no idea what’s going on, obviously! Here’s to the vaccine!

Sorry, the comment above was supposed to be in response to the post – not sure why it went to your comment. But I may have a general answer to your question. Here in Canada the federal government made the decision that all people in care or elder homes get vaccinated first as they are the highest risk group. They are followed by health care, elder care and support care workers, and then all other elderly over 80. I don’t know why this particular person was chosen, though.

Oh, okay. Well that’s definitely a humane approach to vaccinations. That may not be the case here in the U.S. I’m just glad I’m not a medical worker facing covid on a daily basis.

No idea either, in this link I found some info on how they are prioritising the jabs in the UK: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55218679

to be honest, I don’t know. From looking at this website, about 70 hospital hubs across the UK are gearing up to give the Pfizer/BioNTech jab to the over-80s and some health and care staff. Those administering the vaccine will be the first to receive jabs in Scotland, while health workers will be first in line in Wales and Northern Ireland: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55218679 no idea why things are being done differently, but I hope we get things moving as quick as possible!
